The first thing that jumps at the eyes, meeting Deianira, is her spontaneity and her beautiful look and smile. With that Seventies style she appears like the eternal girl: big hair fringe, flare jeans and funny and sexy shirts. Shy and spontaneous, with a marked sense of humor, and thousand of artistic ideas. The first part is Deianira. The second is her: The Terrible. A social figure born some time ago, reaching 22k plus followers in little time.
- Let’s start from the beginning: How has The Terrible born?
It was one of those days in which I was angry at the whole world. I think every woman (or man) has been in such situation at least once in their life.
Well, instead of taking a pair of vases and make them flying through a room, I went in my car, switched on the video on my phone, and unload all my anger, free of showing my thoughts.
- Your mother, Carolina Sellitto, to whom you seems very attached (hopefully she will be soon guest of this blog), is writer, scientist and scientific populariser. A volcano of ideas and initiatives. You are then a legacy. How much this has been influential in your choices? How much has this been inspirational to you?
My mother has a scientific education, and this at the beginning was very hard to take. She is rational, I am very emotional. In few words, the sun and the moon 😀
This diversity has created quite few contrasts, which we have overtaken with the time, thanking the artistic streak that we have in common (the mother is a novel writer and an anchor-woman of a scientific Facebook show, called Oxygen).
- You have been recently guest of the TV-Show “Sanremo con Red”. How was to move from your car to a TV stage?
That was a very important step, cause until then I was considered just as a trash icon. But after that show with Red, an italian TV and Radio celebrity. I deeply appreciate him and thank for the opportunity given, he let me free to present what I thought was more appropriate. After that show, the the spectators understood that my character, The Terrible, has a cultural depth, eventhough she express herself with a direct and a bit trashy language, conveyed perfectly by the napolitan dialect.
- Your intro on the Facebook profile plays:”Language terribly trashy”, but in your everyday life you are very different. You were telling me the other day about a shy Deianira. And I know there is also a Deianira actively involved as godmother for the “Arcigay” association. How much is difficult to relate all these Deianira (almost a schizofrenic case, I would say 😀 -irony detected- )
(She laughs) You know that I ask myself these questions every day? How could I merge all these different Deianira? The answer is:”I don’t know. It just happens!” Deianira is quiet and accomodating. The Terrible “Sta semp’ ncazzat’ (napolitan dialect: is always angry)”.
- Long hair with a Seventies fringe, cat eyes and a fit body. A simple look, made of lot of total black outfits, diva sunglasses, with a touch of colors on the nails. Do you have some favorite brand? Organized shopper, or shopping addicted?
I do change every month… and I would say I have quite a mood related style. So, I am not an organized shopper for sure. I also don’t have a favorite brand. Usually I look at the shop windows, and if I feel inspired, I go and shop!
But there is one thing to which I do not give up: the pink and the black! Those are my favorite colors since forever!
- From being a Facebook Icon to self businesswoman. You have recently registered “The Terrible” brand , and you are almost ready to launch a t-shirt collection. Is this a first step for a launch in the Fashion world?
Well, it would be wonderful, right? I am trying. See, The Terrible reinvent herself day after day, and this is vital to survive. The social world evolves so fast, and you have to follow the trends, and propose a personal interpretation, otherwise you are dead!
I also started recently a collaboration with “Saittella TV“, a Facebook Page with more than 220k followers, so, you see? I never stop.
Going back to the t-shirt collection, I would like to propose a t-shirt that changes style and subject month after month, according to the last social trends.
And I don’t stop here, I have more news to come!

Deianira La Terribile mi ha stupito: Un’ intervista con una 40nager di eccezione
La prima cosa che mi ha colpito incontrando Deianira, é la sua spontaneitá, il suo meraviglioso sguardo, e il suo sorriso. Con quel look anni 70 sembra un’eterna ragazza: frangettone, jeans a zampa d’elefante corredati da magliette sexy e divertenti. Timida e spontanea, con un grande senso dell’umorismo, e idee artistiche a pacchi. Quella timida é Deianira. Poi c’e’ lei: La Terribile. Un personaggio social nato qualche tempo fa, che in poco ha raggiunto piú di 22mila followers.
- Partiamo dalle origini: come é nato il personaggio de “La Terribile”? Era una di quelle giornate in cui sei arrabbiata con il mondo intero. Penso non ci sia donna (o uomo) che non le abbia avute almeno una volta nella loro vita.Ecco, in quel frangente, invece di rompere un paio di vasi scaraventandoli al muro, mi rinchiusi in auto e mi sfogai, senza limiti e nessuno che mi potesse fermare. A ruota libera senza paura di esporre il proprio pensiero.
- Tua madre, Carolina Sellitto, (alla quale sei molto legata e che spero presto sará ospite di 40nagers blog) é scrittrice, scienziata, divulgatrice scientifica. Un vulcano di idée e di iniziative. Quanto “pesa” essere figlia d’arte, e quanto ti é stata di ispirazione?
Mia madre ha una formazione scientifica. E all’inizio sta cosa ha pesato. Lei razionale, io emotiva. Insomma, il sole e la luna. Questa diversitá ha creato non pochi contrasti, che peró abbiamo appianato nel tempo grazie alla vena artistica che abbiamo in comune (la madre é una scrittrice di romanzi e conduttrice di un programma scientifico su facebook, chiamato Oxygen, ndr).
- Sei stata recentemente ospite di “Viva Sanremo con Red”. Com’e’ il passaggio dall’auto de ”La Terribile” ad uno show televisivo?Un passo importantissimo, perché fino ad ora sono spesso stata considerata dal pubblico unicamente come icona trash.
Invece, dopo la partecipazione alla trasmissione di Red, che stimo e ringrazio immensamente per avermi lasciato libera di presentare ció che piú ritenevo opportuno, il pubblico ha capito che il mio personaggio (La Terribile) ha un suo spessore culturale, pur esprimendosi con una terminologia diretta, resa magnificamente dalla lingua napoletana.
- La tua intro su fb recita:”linguaggio di un trash terribile”, ma tu nella realtá sei ben diversa. Mi raccontavi l’altra sera della Deianira timida. E ancora so che c’e’ anche una Deianira impegnata, vista la nomina a madrina dell’”Arcigay”. Quanto é difficile coniugare tutte queste “Deianira” (quasi da schizofrenia 😀 )?
Hahahaha! Bella domanda. Ma sai che me la pongo anche io tutti I giorni? “Come faccio a unire queste due persone e farle diventare una sola???”
La risposta che mi dó é:”Non lo so, avviene e basta :D”. Deianira é timida e accomodante, La Terribile “Sta semp’ ncazzat’ :D”
- Capelli lunghi con frangettona anni 70, occhi chiari e un fisico slanciato. Un look semplice, fatto di tanti total black e occhialoni da diva, senza farsi mancare una nota di colore sulle unghie. Hai dei brand preferiti? O vai a sentimento? Shopper organizzata o shopping addicted?
Cambio ogni mese, e direi che ho uno stile abbastanza “umorale” 😀 Quindi no, niente shopping organizzata e nessuna preferenza per una marca in particolare. Entro e provo quello che mi ispira di piú. Ma in una cosa sono organizzata: al nero e rosa non rinuncio, sono I miei colori preferiti da sempre!
- Da personaggio social a “imprenditrice di sé stessa”. Hai da poco registrato il marchio “La Terribile”, e sei quasi pronta per la tua prima collezione di t-shirt. E’ il primo passo per una svolta da “stilista”?
Magari! Chi lo sa cosa accadrá, in effetti. Io ci provo! Vedi, la Terribile si reinventa giorno dopo giorno. E cio’ é fondamentale, perché essendo nata sui social, bisogna essere sempre “sul pezzo”. Altrimenti il tuo pubblico ti dimentica facilmente. Bisogna seguire il flusso, e proporne la propria interpretazione.
E, giusto per tenermi anche piú impegnata, ho incominciato da pochi giorni una collaborazione con una pagina molto seguita sui social network, chiamata “Saittella TV” (220k+ followers su facebook).
Tornando alla collezione de “La Terribile”, l’idea é quella di una maglietta che cambia stile e soggetto mese dopo mese, a seconda di ció che viene piú seguito sulle piattaforme social.
Ma non mi fermo mica qui, eh. Ho in serbo altre novitá. Ci vediamo presto! ❤
