Some time ago we published on these pages an interesting interview to Margherita Vindigni, from the MV Make Up Studio (you can find it here ), known MakeUp Artist on the italian territory.
Today we passed to her our questions on a treatment that made its way in the women aesthetics universe, and started to be very popular in Italy some year ago: eyelashes extension.
We asked Margherita some of the frequently asked questions that crowd our mind when we are going to approach this kind of treatment (and that we call LMBTA= last minute beauty treatment ansiety :D)
- Which are the main news about this treatment?
Eylashes extension started to be popular from 2005. Since then, many things changed: the glues used, eylashes type, and the thecnics in applying them. Today as we speak, the glues are made with cyanoacrylate, a material that is used in surgery, too. Moreover, the eylashes are prepared to be similar to our natural eylashes.
- Is it true that extension ruins eylashes?
Absolutely yes and no. It all depends on the quality of the material. The professional working with cyanacrylate glues produced and certified in Europe, and applies high quality eyelashes (the most used have silk and mink features), and works on every single eyelash, will not damage anything. Unfortunately, this job is frequently proposed at very low prices at disadvantage of the quality. Be always very suspicious of low prices: an extension at 50€ should always ring your alarm bell 😉
- How often the extension should be refilled?
Considering that eyelashes have their own life cycle, the refill should be made ideally every three weeks. It is possible to continue the application for up one year. After this time I always suggest to pause a bit.
- What’s the routine maintenance to keep the “artificial” eyelashhes at their best?
This treatment does not require specific precautions, but it is of fundamental importance to NOT use two phases and oily make-up removers, which may jeopardize the endurance of the glue used. Moreover, if done with high quality products, the eyelashes extensions has no side effects and can be enjoyed in total safety.
- Is there any other treatment available (possibly as news) for our eyelashes?
A new treatment that substitutes and outdoes the old bending perm to the outlashes has born recently. The old eylashes perm used two laying liquids (one pink and on azur) that bended the eylashes. The main problem was that customers with eye ulcers, uveitis or with extreme eye sensitivity could not be subjected to this treatment.
Likely today a new treatment is available: the application of keratine. This treatment is way better and safer than the old one and can be used on eyebrows, too. The keratine solution (white color) fills and rebuilds the hair. It is a completely new treatment, often mixed up by people that are not in the field, or proposed as alternative because of its price. The keratine solution is super expansive. I do remember that the old kit I used (bought through the “Truccheria di Bologna”) had a much lower cost than the keratine one. But technology goes on and makes the treatment we offer to our customers better. And this is a treatment that I suggest to every customer, also coupled with eyelashes extension 🙂

ESTENSIONE CIGLIA: MARGHERITA VINDIGNI RISPONDE ALLE NOSTRE DOMANDE
Tempo fa abbiamo pubblicato su queste pagine un’intervista (che puoi trovare qui ) a Margherita Vindigni, de MV Make Up Studio, nota Make Up Artist nella nostra Penisola.
Oggi le abbiamo sottoposto domande riguardanti un trattamento che ha fatto sicuramente breccia nel mondo dell’estetica femminile, ed è oramai molto popolare anche da noi in Italia: l’estensione delle ciglia.
Le abbiamo chiesto di dissipare quei dubbi che normalmente affollano la mente delle donne che decidono di sottoporsi a questo trattamento (e che noi poniamo nella categoria dell’ “ansia dell’ultimo minuto prima del trattamento estetico” :D).
- Quali sono le novità relative a questo trattamento?
L’extension ciglia ha avuto seguito a partire dal 2005. Da allora sono cambiate molte cose: le colle utilizzate, le caratteristiche delle setole e le modalità di applicazione. Oggi le colle utilizzate sono di tipo cianoacrilato (sostanza impiegata anche chirurgicamente). Le setole utilizzate vengono lavorate per avere caratteristiche anatomiche simili alle nostre.
- Ma l’extension danneggia le ciglia?
Assolutamente no e assolutamente sì. L’operatore che lavora con colle di tipo cianoacrilato prodotte e certificate in europa, che opta per setole di ottima qualità (le più utilizzate hanno le caratteristiche della seta o del visone), che lavora su ogni singola ciglia non arrecherà mai alcun danno. Purtroppo frequentemente questo lavoro viene proposto a prezzi stracciati a discapito della qualità. Diffidate sempre dei prezzi bassi: un’extension proposta a 50 euro è sempre sinonimo di qualità molto bassa.
- Ogni quanto effettuare il rinfoltimento?
Considerando che le nostre ciglia hanno un ciclo vitale, ogni tre settimane è l’arco di tempo ideale per effettuare i refill e andare e reinserire nuove setole. È possibile protrarre i trattamenti per oltre un anno, dopodiché consiglio sempre di fare una pausa.
- Quale manutenzione per le ciglia “artificiali”?
L’extension non richiede particolari accorgimenti ma è fondamentale non utilizzare struccanti oleosi e bifasici che possono compromettere la tenuta della colla. Se osservate le giuste regole e se utilizzati prodotti di buona qualità l’extension ciglia non ha controindicazioni e può essere goduta in totale sicurezza.
- Ci sono altri trattamenti che possono essere fatti sulle nostre ciglia per aumentarne il volume?
Ultimamente è nato un nuovo servizio che sostituisce e supera la vecchia permanente incurvante ciglia. La vecchia permanente ciglia si avvaleva di liquidi di posa (uno rosa e uno azzurro) che andavano a curvare le ciglia. Il problema principale era che le clienti soggette ad ulcere agli occhi, uveite o predisposte ad eccessiva sensibilità non potevano sottoporsi al trattamento. Oggi invece la keratina creata appositamente per questo servizio va a sostituire il vecchio trattamento, lo migliora e lo rende non solo più sicuro, ma utilizzabile anche sulle sopracciglia. Il liquido della keratina, di colore bianco, riempie e ricostruisce il pelo.
Si tratta di due servizi completamente diversi, spesso confusi…soprattutto per ragioni economiche: non avete idea di quanto possa costare acquistare la keratina. Ricordo che il vecchio kit che utilizzavo (acquistandolo tramite il distributore siciliano della Truccheria di Bologna) aveva un costo molto più basso. Ma la tecnologia va avanti e migliora la qualità dei servizi che rendiamo ai clienti. E questo è un trattamento che consiglio davvero a tutte!
